The Olympic torch relay in Muscat, the ninth leg of its global journey, concluded on Monday evening at the Qurm Natural Park.At about 8:30 p.m. (1630 GMT), the last torchbearer Habib Abdulnabi Macki, vice chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee (OOC), arrived at the floating theater of the Qurm Natural Park, where about ten thousand people had already waited to receive the flame.

Beijing Olympic Mascots Fuwa were walking around the park, causing screaming from the people, especially the children. After Macki lit the cauldron, the audience brought out a burst of applause.

Fireworks were set and displayed, which is usually displayed only on the occasion of celebrating the birthday of Omani Sultan Qaboos bin Said. Sayyid Al Mutassim bin Hamoud Al Bousaidi, minister of state and governor of Muscat, addressed the people, saying this event is “an indicator to the extent of the historical relations between Oman and China.”

Muscat was selected among other host cities around the world for its special position on the “silk route,” Rogge said.Liu Jingmin, vice president of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games, said this event has witnessed the continuation of the traditional friendship between the two countries. A grand celebration will be held, consisting of several performance and presentations. Over 5,000 students are holding the flags of Oman to perform certain backdrop to the stage performance. The torch relay in Muscat started at 5:00 p.m. (1300 GMT) Monday at Al Bustan roundabout in the eastern part of the coastal city, where lies the boat of “Sohar” which visited China in 1981. Sayyid Shihab bin Tareq al Said, advisor to Omani Sultan Qaboosbin Said, was the first of the 80 torchbearers. After 250 meters, he handed the flame over to Sayyid Fatik bin Fahar al Said, under secretary of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture and also a member of the Royal family.

The route of the torch relay stretched along the coast, passing Al Alam Palace, old Muscat, Muscat Gate and Mutrah Souq where a break was made. After the break, the torch relay continued, passing through the Qurm Flyover, and reached its destination, the Qurm Natural Park. Most of the Omani torchbearers are celebrities such as Royal family members, senior officials and sports stars. The stop in Muscat is the ninth one in the Olympic torch relay outside China’s mainland, and the torch has already toured Almaty, Istanbul, St. Petersburg, London, Paris, San Francisco, Buenos Aires and Dar es Salaam.

The Olympic flame arrived in Muscat early Monday from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and will continue its tour in Islamabad, Pakistan. *Source of News*

3GB – A Cool New Social Network To Join

April 12, 2008

Ok I thought I’ve seen the last of social networks recently. But for people who know me, they know I’m just nuts for social networking sites. Today, I went hunting for next new social networking website and by doing a blog search I came across 3GB. I’m always a curious cat about social networks because it gives me an opportunity to connect with different people from different places I otherwise wouldn’t have known if not for these great connection channels.

I signed up for 3GB ofcourse. That I did in a jiffy. In less than 1 minute, I was done and already making some connections with invites coming from members already. This is what I really like about the concept of social networks. I don’t really have to make an effort in order for me to be seen by others which makes the whole networking concept a whole lot better these days.
Snooping around 3GB made me smile a little bit because it has everything I always must have when I’m online, a means to blog, to chat and listen to music. As I end this post, I’m already raring to go and explore some more of the 3GB community. Come and join 3gb community www.3gb.biz with me! This might also be what you’re looking for.

Buenos Aires Loved The Olympic Torch

April 11, 2008

Argentinian Torch Bearer Javier ConteThe first time the Olympics torch graced the lands of Argentina was a blast! In a good sense that is. No untoward incident was recorded in the Tango City. While people were “mobbing” to catch a glimpse of the Olympic flame, most were delighted to be a catch this once in a lifetime event for Argentinians.

This visit of the Olymic flame was the one and only for the Latin American continent which is actually the 7th leg of the trip around the world. Next stop is the city of Dar Es Salaam, the capital of Tanzania.

Dependable IT Company

April 10, 2008

Pondering on the possibility that my blogs may one day soon become bigger than what I envisioned them, I always think about how I could ease things up a bit for myself. Right now, I have 4 active blogs, 7 domains and 1 directory website which I’m developing at the moment. Having to update 4 blogs consistently has become a little tedious on my end. Writing the content is not the problem. It’s more of handling the back-end, tracking reports/sales and tweaking elements of these 4 blogs which take up most of my time. Additionally, my new found internet career has gotten me to think about more directions I want to take in the future in terms of online business.

One day, I may have to outsource these tedious tasks of the back-end so I can concentrate on writing contents. However, I’m definitely not going to let just anybody handle things for me. I’m definitely going to look for dependability when it comes to outsourcing. As I searched around the net for potential outsourcers, I found http://www.icorps.com with the right company mindset and the same company direction as mine.
This Boston IT Outsourcing company prides itself with providing existing customers with top-of-line IT support services. I may not need networking integration, Business application development, Website design, IT Support, Preventive care all at the same time. I’m looking for something of Website design and IT support, something of an ala carte type of service which icorps.com says they can provide. If you’re looking for the same things as me when it comes to your IT support needs, check them out and let them show you the way they can make your work a whole lot easier.

3 is a charm for the Olympic Torch

April 9, 2008

Olympics Torch San FranciscoAfter 2 almost successful disruptions by Tibetan separatists in the London and Paris leg of the Olympic torch relay, the next one held in San Francisco, California USA proved to be peaceful and without any of the same chaos experienced in the European leg. This is all thanks to close guarding and monitoring of security personnel and intelligent decision of the San Francisco torch relay organizers.

Droves came to witness as the torch passed through its normal route and concluded in an undisclosed location apparently to confuse would-be disruptors. One witness told that there was one attempt to snatch the Olympic torch from its bearer but vigilant police guarding the event quickly prevented the person from even getting close to the Olympic torch.

Americans of Chinese descent from across North America have come to participate or at least watch the torch pass through while being entertained by the Olympic torch’s entourage of dancers.
